With all the changes taking place in Zambia - are Zambians ready for the change? Think about that for a moment. Perhaps this will help you answer that question -- when a new shop opens up, one that sells the same products as yours, such as building supplies, clothes, jewels, software, etc, and suppose this shop has these products at a cheaper price, what do you do? Do you close shop, do you complain, do you change your business strategy? Most Zambians are not ready for change and would continue to run their businesses hoping that customer will continue to come. How many grocery shops failed and folded after Shoprite opened, and how many folded after Spar was opened, and how many after Game, Mica - the list can go on and on.
Where am I going with this? Simply this, we need to up our game.
Take the New Manda Hill Mall as an example. After the new mall was built several shops were upgraded to match the mall - shops such as Bookworld, Phoenix, etc each upgraded to match the new mall. Such an attitude is what we need to embrace to move towards a middle income country.
In my opinion, if you gripe and complain about life being unfair then you expectation does not match you efforts; you want something that you are not willing to work for.
Moral of the story: ADAPT OR PERISH!

It sounds to me like the rich will get richer and the poor, poor. How do I compete with a large "shop" such as Game? Are you aware that these shops have tax holidays where I don't!
